Holiday Greetings to All of Our Dear Patients, Friends and Colleagues

During the holiday season many of us are rushing around with mixed feelings. It is a time for giving and sharing, charity and celebration. It may also bring a financial concern, a to-do list, along with a change in diet and sleep. Some may even slip into a period of depression.

How do we get through this magical time of year feeling revitalized? Did you know that a chiropractic adjustment can give you that extra burst? Physiologically it releases endorphins, helps the body remove toxins and energizes you. Studies show having regular chiropractic adjustments lowers cortisol levels (an immunosuppressant), while increasing T and B lymphocyte levels, which boosts immunity.

Staying active and exercising throughout the season helps stave off those extra calories you may be adding on. Did you know that exercise can improve your mood, boost your immunity, and transform your life? Especially during this cold and flu (holiday) season, exercising just 20 minutes/3-4 days a week is enough to manifest these benefits. You can incorporate small changes throughout the day: taking the stairs, doing little bursts of exercise (1-2 sets of 10 reps of squats) during a slow moment at work or while wrapping gifts, or learning a new dance move for that holiday party. All these changes add up to balancing the negative and positive stresses that are a part of our daily lives.

There are several other simple things you can do, some just as simple as changing the way you think. For example, remove the expression “have to” from your vocabulary and your thinking. Tremendous pressure is created by saying, “I have to do this”. Instead, begin saying: “I choose to…”. This will release a lot of self- imposed pressure and give you a whole different perspective on your life. Everything you do is by choice which can empower and invigorate you.

Another suggestion is to take time for you, even if it’s 10-15 minutes a day. In the morning, before you get out of bed, just sit quietly and concentrate on your breath. Let any thoughts that pop into your mind simply float by and, again, concentrate on your breath. Sitting quietly, even for a short time, helps calm your mind and revitalize your spirit.

In this holiday season, as our hearts are turned to giving, we can give no greater gift than the gift of health. Take care of yourself and your loved ones. Come in to Gutrich Chiropractic for treatments (adjustments), gift certificates, and our Lifetime Wellness nutraceuticals. The latest nutritional research promotes antioxidant-rich foods and food-based supplements to reduce the toxic waste in our bodies from environmental pollutants. Start the new year aligned physically, emotionally and mentally, knowing you are adopting life-enhancing practices.

Yours in health,
